Bye Bye Brazos?

Many, if not most Texans have in some way experienced the Brazos river. Either, like me, you’ve been to it as part of some Houston area school field trip to the George Ranch Historical Park (which is a neat place that you should go to if you haven’t been)–or–you had to memorize it as part of Texas history in 4th/7th grade when you learned that our nation’s temporary capitol/congress convened at Washington-on-the-Brazos.

Either way, Texas 4th and 7th graders, rejoice! For soon there won’t be any Brazos river left to wax historical about and Rick Perry‘s education cronies will edit out the nonexistent  river from the curriculum Texas history!

Aren’t you wondering why won’t there be any more Brazos river? If you guessed Rick Perry as your answer, you’d be right as Republicanism! As things stand, 3 Perry appointees at the Texas Commission for Environmental Quality (TCEQ) are the final word on whether the Brazos River Authority drains the river down to its potentially last drop.

You know it’s bad when the Dow Chemical Company (NYSE: DOW) lobbies on the same side as the environmentalists to save the river.
